"My current practice is a constant exchange between my intentions for the clay and clay's intrinsic ability to succumb to natural forces. Allowing gravity to inform the clay gives each piece an unexpected energy. Vessels are created with coiling and pinching techniques, and at the end of the building process, a spontaneous, organic form surprises me. I see it there, having just created it but feeling as though it created itself. This excitement of the unknown and the challenge of accepting imperfections in a world where I otherwise desire to control all I possibly can, creates an opportunity to embrace the process and revel in the unplanned."
